Congressman Larson
said:
“Senator Barack Obama has written a book called The Audacity
of Hope. His election this fall is about the audacity of
change – the audacity to believe that together we can heal
this divided country and improve our standing around the
world.
I believe Senator
Barack Obama is the embodiment of the kind of change the
American people are looking for. I have nothing but respect
for Senator Clinton and President Clinton. But, Obama is
transcendent. His election to the presidency can inspire our
nation and immediately send a message of real change to
people around the globe.
Young Democrats for Congressman
John Larson April 7, 2009
Larson Elected
Head Of Democratic Caucus THANK YOU for all your support during this
historic election and for returning me to Congress to represent
you during these challenging times. It is a honor and a
privilege. Our campaign achieved great success thanks to you and
the efforts of so many hard-working volunteers. We faced two
opponents and won re-election with 72% of the vote. We collected
more contributions from individuals than ever before. We were
able to help Democratic candidates for Congress in Connecticut
and around the Nation achieve historic victories, and we
significantly expanded the Democratic majority in the House of
Representatives.
Thanks to your efforts, we finally made our region of the
Country entirely blue. With the convincing re-elections of Rosa
DeLauro, Chris Murphy, Joe Courtney and the election of a new
rising-star in Jim Himes, we made it 22 out of 22 Democratic
Congressional seats in New England!
On February 4th, we made history right here in Hartford when we
helped introduce Barack Obama to an overflowing crowd of 17,000
people at the XL Center.
On November 4th, we made a difference when we elected this once
in a generation transformational leader as our next President of
the United States.
As President Franklin Delano Roosevelt said during a similar
time of crisis in our Country, what we need now is the "warm
courage of National unity". I am proud to return to Washington
as a member of Democratic Leadership with the opportunity to
work with President Barack Obama on delivering the change our
Nation has been waiting for and bringing the Country together to
meet the challenges that are on our door-step.
Thank you for making the contributions, putting up the lawn
signs, attending the public forums and rallies, telling your
friends, and doing everything you did to make this historic
campaign season the success it was. I am deeply grateful to have
your continued support.
CONNECTICUT COUNCIL of POLICE UNIONS ENDORSE
CONGRESSMAN JOHN LARSON "It is our firm belief
that your election to Congress is in the best interests
of the residents of Connecticut as well as our four
thousand members who serve as sworn police officers in
sixty municipalities throughout the State."
Democrats May Have Had It With Lieberman "It's one thing to support John
McCain," said Rep. John Larson, a member of the Democratic
leadership on the House side of the Capitol. "It's another thing
to embrace Sarah Palin." "I think Joe is on a different
roster," Larson said. "He's made a conscious choice to go over
to the other side. … I wish things were different, but they're
not."
It is an honor and a pleasure to be
your First
District Congressman. With your encouragement and
support, in January of 2005 I was selected to serve on
the House Ways and Means committee and in 2006 I was
elected Vice-Chair of the Democratic Caucus. The
position assists the Chairman in organizing and
running the Caucus and is one of five senior party
leaders in the House of Representatives that develop
the Democratic agenda.
In 2006 people from all over Connecticut and America
changed the direction of the country when they elected
a new Democratic Majority to Congress. As the 5th
ranking Democrat in the new Majority, I have worked
closely with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the entire
Democratic Caucus to fight for healthcare, jobs, and
an end to the war in Iraq.
In March of 2007, I was appointed to
the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global
Warming where I have worked with environmentalists
and policy makers from all over the world to address
issues related to energy independence and global
climate change.
It is my hope that this website will provide
information regarding my positions on various issues,
resources available to residents of the First
Congressional District and updates on my campaign
activities.
